A little place of calm: Windows 7 quick review

It looks really good i think. MS finally started getting the act together.
I'm still running a download, after having several connection breaks.

Hi Aimee. Thanks for the extensive info and screenshots .

Just wondering about the hardware requirements. Roughly the same as for Vista? No use trying on a 4/5-year old P4 - 2.8 GHz?

Hi Springo, yeah i do believe it is a pretty good operating system. I'm amazed how stable and complete it seems to be, for a beta. If only it were free forever, i might just use it, ha!

Hey Noodle! Wonderful to hear from you again! I've heard conflicting reports: one that the requirements are just the same as Vista; and another that it has been optimized to work on low-spec netbooks. I know that they require 1GB of memory and 1GHz processor. For the Aero interface they recommend a graphics card which supports DirectX 9 and has 128MB memory.

Just doing a quick comment to see whether the little icons pick up Windows 7 and IE8.

Update: Firestats got the IE8 right but thought i was on Windows NT! I see! :)

thank you for this. it's very informative and useful. and oooooh, it looks so pretty. i might just have to have a go at it myself. a free beer would be nice as well!

Haha, the free beer comment is a Linux joke.
Linux is praised for being free as in free speech, as opposed to free beer. I do appreciate things being free as in free beer too, though! :)
